I had previously predicted that either Blizzard or Sony would blink; both had scheduled their Next Big Things to release on November 15. (well hell, can’t find my permalink for that, but I did tell anyone who would listen … same thing.)

Apparently Sony blinked. According to EBGames and a few other suppliers, the EverQuest II release date is now November 8, 2004. Ya. The same day as Halo 2. (World of Warcraft is still listed as November 15.)

Considering Sony’s recent reworking of the character system in EQII , their penchant for releasing Beta as gold and now they’re going head-to-head with Halo 2, I’d guess that the SOE crack intervention didn’t go very well.
