Only Noobs Use the Crack House

Maybe you’ve read about the two Warcraft capitalists on the Elune server that bought up all the trade components and uncommon loot items (read: not the really good lewtz0r like purples and blues) and jacked the prices for resale. If you haven’t read all about it, here’s some extracurricular reading for you: Here (good detail), here and here. The original forum thread here. Plus, it’s linked on every page on the net right now.

I have no doubts that my server’s Auction House is like every other Auction House in the Warcraft world: Fucked beyond belief. I suspect, based on pricing and lack of buyouts on level 20 shit items, that the only players using the AH anymore are the crack smokers and the professional farmers, who may or may not be Chinese.

But, what’s the deal with Elune? Don’t any of the players over there go hunting and loot fresh green loot every day? Why are they paying insane prices for crap-fting components or, FAR MORE STUPID, giving a stranger storage items to hold for them AND paying for that privilege? (Hi, that’s what alts are best at — free storage.)

This isn’t Star Wars: Galaxies for crissakes, where people have to level a new crafting skill every day in a vain attempt to unlock Jedi. Pretty much everyone picks a crafting profession and selects a gather skill to go along with it. If someone doesn’t select a gather skill, no big deal; they pay more for shit from the Crack House or direct from another player. (derrr)

It’s like we have to have warnings on absolutely everything now. “Hail Warcraft adventurers, don’t pay too much for game items and you might not want to hand over your stuff to a stranger!”

Gee, ya think?
