Sixty Seconds of Frodo Would Have Been Plenty

Tony, CEO of buttonmashing.com, live-blogged the MTv Xbox Next Generation special — and well done, too. However, sounds like the unveiling was tantamount to the Holy Grail.

BEHOLD, the One Ring of Power! No wait … BEHOLD the Xbox 360, Lord of the Game Consoles! DON’T TOUCH IT, be content with basking in its goodness.

Here’s something that was weird: Elijah Wood was a color commentator, or something. WTF? Where did that connection come from?

At a production meeting, did someone say, “We have got to get Elijah Wood for this!” “OMG, CALL HIS PEOPLE!!” (???)

Were they high?

I’m not convinced we need an entire TV special to introduce new products. Isn’t that what commercials are for? Toss Frodo and an Xbox 2 into a 60-second spot, there’s the intro.

I hope MTv runs several encores of the special. I’d like to miss it a couple more times.

  1. A live blog is one that’s not dead. (duh!)

Actually, it’s a technique. It has the immediacy and the rawness of performance art. Free of the usual edit and polish, live blog posts are edgy and ripe with the emotion and passion of the moment in which they were created.

Or, it’s bitching real time via the blog.

(Never let it be said that I’m not a master of bullshit.)

  2. Yea i fully agree, there was like a total of 1min 30sec of gameplay, what a waste of half an hour. I could care less about seeing reactions to complete tools who probably dont even play video games.

a couple a dorks anda buncha black guys and rappers on there bein like “y0 dis hizzie is tizzite y0!”

worst line from a guy on pimp my ride
“Normally i roll with mah man X, but today, im pimpin a whole different type of X”
